I have a number of friends who have moved overseas and it’s really interesting to talk to them about changes they have made in order to adapt to where their new environment is. To give you a quick update, I’m now in Sydney and I have 2 really good friends of mine who have made a new life here and I’m looking forward to catching up properly with them later on today.
I’ve come here after a gruelling and totally amazing 7 days training in Fiji at this Billionaire Bootcamp seminar I have mentioned several times before. This was one of the most intensive things I’ve done and it truly challenged my perception of the world and what is possible when you look at the bigger picture.
One of the challenges we faced was a classic “The Apprentice” style game where we had to trade items from a paperclip up to as high a value as possible. We had 2 hours and a whole lot of intention as we set out into the unknowing public and after setting up the plan and idea we forged ahead. I was made the team leader and I learnt a lot about leading too. I needed to be more assertive. Though I had some nice ideas on how to play big, there were people who were only looking to play a small game and my voice got lost in the foray. All due respect to them for going out to get single upward trades because we still came back with over $300 worth Read the rest of this entry »

Today was the day when we all get to spend some time listening to the Dalai Lama. We were asked to turn up about an hour earlier than usual, due to security checks that were in place to protect His Holiness. This was totally understandable, once in the conference room, we were literally yards away from the stage where he would be speaking from.
On entering the room, I found a seat as close as possible so that I could get a good view. We had some time to spare before the Dalai was going to speak, and so some more networking was done! Like I said before, always be networking, you never know who you meet and where you meet them, but be sure that everyone you meet can become a resource to your dream.
So the anticipation was building up in the room as it filled up. We were about to get a special audience with the Dalai Lama, and this was the topic that was on every persons lips. The buzz in the room was literally electric as people could sense the energy fill up around them with the impending presence of such an enlightened spiritual leader.

There’s been quite some fuss over the release of Mr Megrahi due to his terminal prostate cancer. It would seem that many people disagree with the decision and think that he should not have been released.
Why so many people are intent on getting as much grief as they can from this? What does keeping him locked up in a jail actually achieve in the long run? Is it supposed to send a message to those responsible that they shouldn’t mess with us because ultimately even in death we would not listen or bend. Truly, keeping him in jail doesn’t achieve anything at all.
Megrahi was released on compassionate grounds and that decision was made not because of political pressure, not because of media or public pressure, it was made, because we have the choice to make it, and even more important, because we are capable of giving him these last days as we are more than just jailers, we are compassionate and forgiving people.

Why is it that there is this overwhelming notion that it takes a certain amount of effort before something is achieved? I was on the way back from central London after hosting a travel meetup event and I overheard a group of people talking about a friend of theirs who had “paid their dues” and thus “deserved” the reward he was getting. This got me thinking, why did they believe this to be true? What was it in their thinking that meant they had associated reward and fulfilment with the fact that a certain amount of time and/or effort had to be exerted first? It was through my understanding that their perception of this notion that time served equals reward had been taught to them by the experiences and learnings they had whilst they were growing up.In fact it was Dr Morris Massey’s work on values which described 3 major periods where our core notions are created. A lot of people strive all their lives to achieve certain goals, but did you ever stop to think about what that really means for you? What are you ultimately trying to do and what is your purpose for being here on planet earth? I’m sure we’ve all asked this question to ourselves before. The long and short of it comes down to personal values. If you image your motivation like a sine wave and the bottom of the wave is the lowest point of a goal and the top is the achievement of a goal, then you can see that everytime you aim for something and achieve it, your motivation drops off again and wonder what to do next. All your goals are there only to satisfy the higher positive intention which is the fulfilment of your core values.
