It’s never about what you can get, but what you can give, Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi was released because we are capable of compassion and that’s our giftThere’s been quite some fuss over the release of Mr Megrahi due to his terminal prostate cancer. It would seem that many people disagree with the decision and think that he should not have been released.

Why so many people are intent on getting as much grief as they can from this? What does keeping him locked up in a jail actually achieve in the long run? Is it supposed to send a message to those responsible that they shouldn’t mess with us because ultimately even in death we would not listen or bend. Truly, keeping him in jail doesn’t achieve anything at all.

Megrahi was released on compassionate grounds and that decision was made not because of political pressure, not because of media or public pressure, it was made, because we have the choice to make it, and even more important, because we are capable of giving him these last days as we are more than just jailers, we are compassionate and forgiving people.

Think about it, this won’t even matter in the whole grand scheme of history, in 200 years time.
I write about this because it touches on a point I’ve been making quite frequently lately and that is the notion of what it is we can give compared to that which we can get in life.

It seems to me so many people live their lives trying to squeeze every bit of juice out of their lives that they forget that life is about giving. No one ever because successful from getting everything they could from everybody else.

David Beckham gives his best every time he plays football, if he didn’t, he wouldn’t be recognized as one of the best. Richard Branson starts all his ventures with the premise, what can I give to this service that would make it even better.

Top singers, actors, politicians, CEOs and world leaders, wake up everyday to give their very best to their job, because it means so much more than just their own lives.

The moment you are conceived in your mother’s womb, she is giving you the best she can to enable your successful birth into this world. Your mother would be more careful, eat the right foods, give YOU 9 months of her time, in order that you may live. Isn’t that the greatest gift?

Think about this, where in life are you not giving enough? Always trying to get more from others? Turn things around, the law of attraction will come back to provide you with more opportunities the more you give. We live in a world that is abundant in everything, it’s not a question of resources, it’s a question of resourcefulness.

Go home today and think where in life can you give some more. Perhaps it’s giving your time to your loved one. That; is the most valuable gift you can give, your time. This is the one thing that is irreplaceable, no matter how wealthy you are. Spend your time wisely, make every moment count and start giving now.

Give life your best shot, you owe your mother that much!
